Official PA news agency WAFA earlier quoted a group called the National Campaign to Recover Bodies of Martyrs as saying that the remains would be transferred to the PA at a Qalqilia checkpoint.
Abu Zant, who was born in 1954 in the city of Shechem, was part of an armed DFLP terror group when he was killed near the al-Hamra checkpoint in the Jordan Valley.
The WAFA report – monitored and translated by MEMRI – said that Israel had agreed two months ago to release around 100 of the terrorist bodies it was keeping but retracted its decision after news of the deal broke.
