Ya’alon Insists: IDF Can Handle Terror Spike

October 6, 2015

Israel can handle the sudden spike in terror activity since the High Holidays began, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon insisted Tuesday.

“We are in the midst of a wave of terror and incitement which continues, and continues to fan the wave of terrorism and therefore we are taking steps to suppress that wave,” Ya’alon said, speaking from the IDF Samaria Brigade base north of Tapuah.

The Defense Minister sought to reassure the public that Israel’s security forces can handle the upswing in violence.

“In most cases, we know how to stop the terrorists before they can carry out attacks,” he insisted. “Even the detective work for the case of the Henkin shooting was carried out in a short time.”

Ya’alon then, once again, criticized the Samaria (Shomron) Regional Council heads and Jewish Home ministers for their criticism against him and against Netanyahu for being slow to combat the terror.

“I recommend that the regional council mayors and politicians stop hyperventilating,” he patronized. “There is a difference between the situation today and the situation when we carried out Defensive Shield [IDF operation in the PA, 2002 – ed.] in Judea and Samaria.”

”These messages are causing citizens to take the law into their own hands,” he continued. “This wrongful phenomenon incites against our struggle against Jewish terror, adding fuel to the fire.”
