Blessed Rains Continue on Thursday

October 8, 2015

Winter in Israel may be awhile off but temperatures continued to cool on Thursday and will remain unseasonably low until early next week.

Local rain is anticipated to continue as well, particularly along the coastal plain. Skies will be cloudy and partly cloudy across the country.

Israel was blessed with its first rains early on Wednesday, a little less than two days after Jews around the world changed to the prayer for rain during the Shemini Atzeret holiday.

The precipitation marked the first full rains of a dry year, in which this season an official 0 millimeters of rain were recorded. But that changed with rainfall throughout the north, the coastal region, the Jerusalem area and on down to the south.

Temperatures on Thursday will stabilize in the afternoon, but rain may continue to fall in the north and central regions of Israel.

Skies however will clear over Shabbat and temperatures will gradually begin to warm up on Sunday and into the rest of next week.

Predicted temperatures are: Golan Heights – 25°C (77°F), Haifa – 24° (75°), Tel Aviv – 26° (79°), Jerusalem – 21° (70°), Beersheva 27° (81°) and Eilat – 32° (90°).
