Arab Shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ Shot Trying to Breach Checkpoint

June 30, 2015

A suspected terrorist has been shot attempting to break through an IDF checkpoint just west of Jerusalem.

According to local security forces, an Arab man driving a BMW drove his car at high speed towards security guards while shouting “Allahu Akbar!”

Security forces responded by firing in the air and ordering the attacker to stop, at which point the suspect jumped out of his car and continued running towards the checkpoint by foot.

Soldiers then shot and wounded him, neutralizing the threat.

The suspect has been transferred for treatment at Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek hospital.

The incident comes on the heals of a series of Muslim terrorist attacks during the month of Ramadan.

Just minutes before the latest incident, Malachi Rosenfeld – one of four victims injured in last night’s shooting attack north of the capital – died of his wounds.

Hours before the shooting attack outside Shvut Rachel in Samaria which eventually claimed Rosenfeld’s life, an IDF soldier was stabbed and injured while guarding Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem, south of Jerusalem.

Also on Monday, an Arab teenager was apprehended at the Shuafat checkpoint in northern Jerusalem attempting to smuggle and automatic weapon into the capital.
