Yachad-Ha’am Itanu chairman Eli Yishai called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to dismiss Likud MK Yoav Kish Sunday, after Kish revealed he supports dividing Jerusalem.
“I call on the prime minister to immediately remove Yoav Kish from the Likud list, given his support for an agreement dividing Jerusalem,” Yishai stated, urging Likud not to have double standards regarding “Post-Zionism.”
“If Mr. Kish is not removed from the list, this means that the Likud approves the idea of dividing Jerusalem as legitimate – and the public will judge and will have its say,” he added, implying that Likud would fail to win the elections as a result.
Kish, who is #19 on the Likud list, made his comments in support for what he called “the moderate and sane Right” and predicted that Likud is moving leftward.
Netanyahu’s election headquarters said in response: “A united Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel. This has been the position of Netanyahu and Likud for many years and it will not change.”
According to recent polls, Likud is due to gain up to 25 seats in the Knesset elections – meaning that it is highly likely Kish will be elected to the Knesset under the Likud banner.
