The defense establishment began groundwork Sunday at the site where the residents of Givat HaUlpana in Beit El are to be housed following their planned eviction. The site is located within the military camp next to Beit El.
An officer who was present at the site said that the ground was being readied for the caravans (converted mobile homes) that will be brought to the site, in advance of the planned demolition of the neighborhood and the forced relocation of its residents.
An eyewitness said that several tractors were flattening out the ground as bulldozers broke some boulders. IDF officers and employees of the Bezeq telephone company who were on site said they had orders to complete the work by Wednesday.
Several senior officers from the Border Police arrived at Givat HaUlpana in the afternoon to survey the buildings that are intended for eviction and demolition. They left as soon as they were spotted by local residents.
