Whom did the Knesset Speaker snub from his wedding?

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein is getting remarried on June 20, and he has invited all 120 MKs except for four – three blatantly pro-terror Arab MKs from the Balad faction of the Joint List party, and freshman MK Oren Hazan from his own Likud party.

The shocking snub was revealed on Monday night by Channel 10, as the news site’s Knesset correspondent Akiva Novick exposed that Arab MKs Hanin Zoabi, Jamal Zahalka, and Basel Ghattas, as well as Likud MK Hazan are not on the guest list.

The move is surprising, not least of all because it seems to put Hazan, a member of Edelstein’s party, on a par with the three pro-terror Balad MKs, who caused outrage and were given a light penalty after in early February they met with the families of ten Arab terrorists in eastern Jerusalem and held a minute of silence praying for the souls of the terrorists.

However, the move is less surprising given the fact that Hazan and Edelstein have long clashed.

Last June Hazan reportedly vowed to find dirt on Edelstein, after Edelstein suspended the freshman MK from his duties as deputy speaker due to a report alleging he was involved in pimping and drugs. A probe into Hazan’s alleged threats was later ruled out.

In response to the snub, Hazan said, “while I didn’t open my mail, I’m pretty sure that no invitation is waiting for me.”

“In any case I want to wish the young couple a lot of congratulations, may all their hearts’ desire be fulfilled,” he said. “Of course if I’m invited I’ll come to honor them, and even if not – at least they saved me a gift.”

Edelstein, 57, is to be married on June 20 to Irina Nevzlin, chairwoman of the board of Beit Hatfutsot – The Museum of the Jewish People – and daughter of billionaire businessman Leonid Nevzlin.

The wedding comes after Edelstein’s wife Tatiana died in January 2014. The couple were married for 33 years and had two children.  Nevzlin, who is a mother of two young children and is in her late 30s, divorced her previous husband Michael Kogan in 2015.
