Two reportedly armed intruders burst into a district office of the governing AK Party (AKP) in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Wednesday morning.

The break-in occurred in the Kartal district of the city according to BBC, which noted Turkish TV is showing images of one of the two men flying a Turkish flag from the building’s window.

AKP is led by Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan formerly was head of the party.

Turkish media reports are indicating that the two men have been arrested and brought into custody.

The break-in comes just a day after a prosecutor was taken hostage by two gunman from a  banned radical Marxist group in Istanbul. The gunmen were killed as security forces stormed the building, and the prosecutor was wounded in the clash, later dying of his wounds.

The prosecutor, Mehmet Selim Kiraz, appears to have been targeted for having led an inquiry into the death of a boy who was killed during anti-government protests back in 2013.

Turkey on Tuesday also experienced a nation-wide electric blackout, with hackers in the Iranian regime suspected as being behind the incident.

The outage brought mass transportation to a screeching halt, stopped hospitals and the manufacture of goods, and closed down 11 of the country’s air traffic control receivers.
