Terrorist shot dead while trying to stab Border Policemen

A Palestinian Arab terrorist was shot by security forces on Friday afternoon as he tried to stab a Border Policemen near the village of Silwad, which is located near Ofra in the Binyamin region.

According to reports from the scene, the terrorist drove his car towards the Border Police officers who were stationed in the area during clashes between security forces and Palestinians.

The troops opened fire at the terrorist, who was evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem where doctors pronounced him dead.

There were no injuries among the officers.

Other clashes broke out in the village of Beit Fajjar, between Hevron and Bethlehem. Two Palestinians were injured when IDF troops opened fire at them upon noticing that they were holding a gun. One of them was evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The other suffered light injuries to his leg and was evacuated by the Red Crescent.

Earlier on Friday, two Border Police officers were lightly to moderately wounded in a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City.

A 50-year-old female Arab passerby was lightly wounded in the leg by shrapnel as the terrorist was shot.

Damascus Gate has become a central hot spot for attacks during the current wave of Arab terror that began last September, with Friday’s attack marking at least the fourth attack or attack attempt at the site this week alone.

Friday’s stabbing came in the shadow of another stabbing the day before at a Rami Levy supermarket in Sha’ar Binyamin, in which 21-year-old Tuvia Yanai Weissman was murdered and 36-year-old Avi Avital was moderately wounded by two 14-year-old Arab terrorists.
