IDF soldiers braving the sudden cold weather received a welcome and much needed arrival today – new winter equipment. As the cold season approaches and with snow blanketing select regions in the central and northern parts of the country, the IDF began distributing winter gear to bases in the colder areas.
The Technology and Logistics Division was responsible for the transfer of the winter equipment to regional command centers, which will allow soldiers to continue to carry out routine training exercises and maintain a high level of efficiency amid the brutal changes in weather that parts of the region experience.
In the initial shipment, the IDF distributed about 2,000 radiators, 100,000 heat packs and replaced dozens of tents, some with new models. They also installed about 500 solar tent heaters, and distributed about 10,000 storm suits, made out of special material that does not absorb water.
Special thermal suits, which retain body heat, were also distributed to select units.
In addition, many units last week received hundreds of new uniforms, tents, sleeping bags and mattresses, replacing the equipment that got drenched in the storm.
