Soldiers Hurt in ‘Land Day’ Riots Near Tel Aviv

Two IDF soldiers were slightly hurt on Saturday when Arabs rioted near Kalkliya, about 10 kilometers northeast of Tel Aviv.

Hundreds of Arabs rioted near the Kalkilya checkpoint. Security forces responded with means for riot dispersal, including warning shots fired in the air.

In another attack, a four-year-old Jewish boy suffered slight wounds when Arab rioters hurled rocks at the car he was in, on the road leading to Tekoa, in Gush Etzion. He was taken to Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem for medical treatment.

In northern Israel, within the 1948 Armistice borders, the major Land Day riot took place in Sakhnin. Thousands of Arab marchers held signs with irredentist slogans and held PLO and Syrian flags. Rioters attacked an Al Jazeera TV crew and chased it out of the city. The cameraman suffered light head injuries. The attackers accused al Jazeera of serving Israel and the regime of Bashar Assad in Syria.

The mayor of Sakhnin called for the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority to unite with the Hamas PA in Gaza and establish a PA state with its capital in Jerusalem.

Video uploaded by Arabs to Youtube is allegedly of an overturned military jeep at El Hader, near Bethlehem.
