An Israeli man was kidnapped Friday in the Sinai Peninsula along with a Belgian woman, AFP reports.
The two were intercepted by armed Bedouin men as they traveled between two beach resort towns. The men stopped the tourists’ car at gunpoint and forced them into a truck, according to Egyptian police.
Israel’s Counter Terrorism Bureau has issued strong warnings against travel to Egypt in recent years, warning that “killings and kidnappings” are possible in the area.
Sinai has suffered a deterioration in security in recent months. The region has also become a source of anti-Israel terror, including rocket attacks.
