Kadima head MK Shaul Mofaz took credit Monday for torpedoing the Regulation Law that could have prevented the destruction of the Givat HaUlpana neighborhood in Beit El.
“We prevented the passage of the Regulation Law and that is an accomplishment for the entire coalition and certainly for Kadima,” he said. “I think it is the first harbinger of the fact that Kadima took the coalition toward the [political] center.”
Regarding negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, Mofaz said: “Next week I am going to the United States for a few days for diplomatic talks. In addition, I intend to meet Abu Mazen and look at the possibility of advancing the negotiations. It seems to me that having a wide coalition is an important opportunity. One of Kadima’s banners is the advancement of negotiations and of the possibility of reaching an agreemen”t.
Mofaz voiced support for the decision by the Legal Advisor to the Government and Attorney General, to enable the expulsion of illegal immigrants from Israel. “Those crossing the border into Israel are neither refugees nor work immigrants. They are work seekers who cause damage to the state of Israel and create a reality that is hard to come to terms with.”
