PA Arabs Set Up Another Outpost

A group of Palestinian Authority Arabs on Friday set up an illegal outpost in Beit Iksa, a PA Arab village located north of Jerusalem.

Residents of the village, which is located between the Ramot and Mevasseret Zion neighborhoods, reported that IDF forces arrived at the outpost shortly after it was set up. It is believed the outpost will be evacuated and demolished within hours.

“We pitched two tents and began building a new structure using concrete and stones in an area in Beit Iksa which Israel wants to take for settlement,”
Said Yaqine told AFP.

“This action is not limited to today but will go on for several days, to declare our refusal of the Israeli decision to take the land,” he said, claiming that the Israeli army recently announced it would confiscate 124 acres of land by the village, located on the northwestern outskirts of Jerusalem.

“The only response to this could be to create facts on the ground, like Israeli settlers do,” he said.

The IDF told Channel 2 News that “dozens of Palestinians gathered near Beit Iksa, southwest of Ramallah, and put up a tent. The IDF is monitoring the situation.

Last Friday, Arab activists set up an illegal outpost in the E1 area, which connects Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim, and that was just recently opened to construction for Israelis.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu later ordered security forces to immediately evacuate the Arabs, ordering the closure of access roads to the area in order to prevent gatherings until a Supreme Court rescinds its injunction against the evacuation of the outpost.

The Arabs in the outpost were evacuated by security forces on Saturday night. The Court later accepted the State’s request and cancelled a temporary injunction which had prevented Israel from taking down the tents that were in the outpost.

On Wednesday night, after the injunction was cancelled, security forces demolished the tents.
