Netanyahu: Iran Deal Poses a Threat to the United States

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke to NBC News on Wednesday, arguing the Iranian nuclear deal poses a threat not only to Israel but also to the United States.

“We think this is not only a threat to us. We think this is a threat to you as well,” Netanyahu told NBC’s Lester Holt, a day after Iran and P5+1 reached the historic agreement. “Iran has killed more Americans than anyone other than al Qaeda.”

“They’re going to get hundreds of billions of dollars to fuel their terror and military machine,” he added.

While US President Barack Obama has asserted the deal will cut off “every pathway to a nuclear weapon,” Netanyahu contends Iran cannot be trusted with any sort of nuclear program.

“Iran is different. It’s a zealot country,” he noted. “It’s killed a lot of Americans. It’s killing everybody in sight in the Middle East.”

“I think Iran has two paths to the bomb: One if they keep the deal, the other if they cheat on the deal,” Netanyahu continued. “They can cheat on the deal because inspections are not instantaneous.”

The Prime Minister was taking issue with the term of the agreement wherewith United Nations inspectors will have to provide 24 days notice for their inspections of suspicious Iranian facilities.

“Can you imagine giving a drug dealer 24 days’ notice before you inspect the premises?” Netanyahu posed. “That’s a lot of time to flush a lot of meth down the toilet.”

Netanyahu, a long-time opponent to any deal with the virulently anti-Israel Iran, urged Americans to take note of the dissatisfaction and skepticism shared by the Jewish state and the Arab world.

“When Arabs and Israelis agree, it’s worth paying attention,” Netanyahu stressed.
