The leader of opposition party Yesh Atid, MK Yair Lapid, said Monday that if the deal that is shaping up between the P5+1 nations and Iran is indeed signed, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu should resign.
“If this bad deal is signed,” Lapid said at a session of his faction’s MKs, “this is a failure that has Netanyahu’s name written all over its length and breadth,” he intoned. “It is grounds for the resignation of the prime minister.”
Netanyahu himself has said that the deal being hammered out over Iran’s nuclear program is “getting worse by the day.”
Lapid also denounced the government’s decision to cancel the planned reform regarding conversion courts, and to place the Rabbinical Courts under the aegis of the Ministry for Religions. “This is a betrayal of women, of olim and of world Jewry,” he accused. “We ask world Jewry – and especially US Jewry – for help on the Iranian matter, on defense aid, and then we spit in their faces.”
