Moshe Kahlon’s Kulanu party has met with President Reuven Rivlin Monday in his residence, and recommended that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu form the next government.
Kulanu’s 10 MKs give Netanyahu a 61-seat majority in the Knesset. Rivlin will meet Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beytenu party later in the day. If it, too, recommends Netanyahu, he will have a relatively solid 67-seat majority.
At 2:00 p.m., Rivlin will be meeting with the Yisrael Beytenu faction, followed by a meeting with Meretz at 3:00 p.m.
Yesh Atid told Rivlin this morning that it is headed toward the Opposition. MK Yael German told the president that the party will not recommend any candidate.
United Torah Jewry (UTJ) MKs met with President Reuven Rivlin Sunday to inform him that they recommended Netanyahu to form the next government. Besides UTJ, MKs from Shas, Jewish Home and Likud have also given their nod to Netanyahu, and as of this morning, 51 MKs had expressed their approval of him as the next Prime Minister.
This will be Netanyahu’s fourth coalition, after he headed governments that were formed in 1996, 2009 and 2013 respectively.
