Arutz Sheva spoke to Magen David Adom officials who were involved in the mission to Turkey, where they treated the wounded victims from Saturday’s terrorist attack and flew them back to Israel so they can continue their treatment there.
“It was a very complex operation involving the Turkish hospitals, the Red Crescent, Magen David Adom, the Israeli Defense Forces and the Ministry of Health,” explained Dr. Rafi Strugo, Magen David Adom’s medical director.
Within 24 hours, he said, the operation succeeded in bringing back to Israel the ten people who were wounded in the Istanbul blast, among them five who were lightly wounded and five who suffered more serious injuries.
“Unfortunately, I was part of [rescue operations] in the Nepal earthquake and the Burgas terrorist attack, and every time I feel proud that the state of Israel is the only state in the globe that would do something like this in order to bring the wounded back to Israel,” said Dr. Strugo.
