IAI to Provide Four Ships to African Country

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) was recently awarded a contract worth tens of millions of dollars for the supply of four ships of the “Super Dvora Mark 3” to an unnamed military power in Africa.

The ships, developed by IAI at its advanced Ramta plant, will be built in Be’er Sheva. The ships will be supplied in 2016 and will serve to complete routine security tasks and prevent smuggling and piracy.

“With an overall length of 27 meters, a top speed in excess of 40 knots, and equipped with a full suite of advanced weapons and sensors, this powerful boat will be an important addition to our customer’s maritime arsenal for securing its littoral waters”, said Nitzan Shaked, IAI/Ramta’s General Manager, according to Defenseworld.

“We are very proud that our boat are being operated on nearly all of the world’s oceans, and that this, another African customer, has selected our proven design to address their significant maritime challenges,” Shaked added.

The IAI has provided over 120 ships to different countries worldwide.
