Four Arrested at Jewish Protest Outside Temple Mount

Four Jewish activists were arrested on Thursday, after a flurry of protests against the attempted murder of prominent activist Yehuda Glick, as well as ongoing discrimination against Jews, broke out at the entrance to the Temple Mount.

While throngs of people gathered to protest, the four men arrested had literally “crossed a line” as far a police were concerned; they had jumped over the cordon set up by police and ran toward the Mount, Judaism’s holiest site. Police apprehended them before they managed to get far.

Meanwhile, dozens of activists continue to chant slogans calling for Jewish sovereignty over the Mount, which was closed to Jews Thursday after Islamic Jihad terrorist shot Jewish rights activist Yehuda Glick Wednesday night.

The protests follow public statements of outrage from public figures including Thursday, including MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud), who said that apathy to Jewish discrimination is “expected.”

“Instead of [them] showing the murderer the opposite of what he wanted, by opening the Temple Mount to Jews, plain and simple, this morning, just the opposite happened, as indeed I observed,” he said.

Feiglin, who was at the Temple Mount this morning, stated that “the mountain was closed to Jews and to the State of Israel – the true sovereign of the Temple Mount – the Muslim Waqf was allowing Muslims on the Mount in droves, where they prayed and ultimately rioted. Eventually riot dispersal measures had to be taken.”

“When asked to enter so that the sovereign’s representative in Israel, the Israeli Knesset, will be on the Mount, not just Muslim sovereigns which actually took our place on the Mount, they didn’t allow it,” they continued. “I asked to speak with the prime minister and he never called me back.”

“This is the situation this morning, the reality whereby a wanted murderer is given what he wanted in full,” he added. “This conduct will certainly not bring about peace, only more murders.”
