Former IDF chief chauffeurs his old driver to army release

Max, who served as former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz’s personal driver, received a special gift for his release from the army: a personal ride to the Bakum (the discharging station) from the lieutenant general.

According to a report in Yediyot Aharonot, Max served as Gantz’s driver for four years. When it came time for him to doff his uniform, he was surprised to discover Gantz waiting for him in a car outside of the Kirya (the central IDF base in Tel Aviv).

Gantz also gave Max a specially-made t-shirt with the phrases “End of the road” and “Thank you for proving there are good people with whom you can walk.”

The pair reached the entrance to the Bakum, where they joyfully cut apart Max’s military ID. Gantz also took the opportunity to congratulate other soldiers on their releases and wish them success in their lives as civilians.
