Floods Expected, Floodwatchers Warned

The emergency rescue teams in the Dead Sea area are warning the public that floods are expected at week’s end in the stream beds leading to the Dead Sea – and they are also calling on people who wish to view the floods to do so carefully.

Streams must not be crossed during a flood, there is no stopping or parking on road shoulders in flood areas, and Parks Authority rangers must be obeyed, reports Voice of Israel public radio.

Recommended spots for watching the floods are the Og River bridge, the Tatzpit Efes observation point at Metzokei Dragot, and selected safe spots on Route 90.

Clouds will multiply Friday and rain will start falling in northern Israel in the morning, according to forecasters, then spread to central Israel. Temperatures will drop, and will continue to do so on Saturday. Rain will fall from the Galilee region to the northern Negev.
