A 50 year-old woman was killed on Saturday night in a deadly crash that took place near Navot intersection on Highway 675 in the North of Israel. Five other people were injured and taken to Ha’Emek hospital in Afula. One of the three critically injured people was immediately taken in for surgery while the other two stayed in the emergency room. The remaining two people were moderately injured and received treatment.
MDA paramedic Gil Beilin-Yaakov told reporters that “when we arrived at the scene we saw two vehicles that had crashed, one of which had overturned. A number of injured people were lying on the ground, one of whom was a 50 year-old woman who was unconscious and had suffered a multiple system failure. We administered first aid and transferred her to hospital while attempting to resuscitate her. After initial triage and first aid applied in the field we transported an additional five people to the hospital.”
The injured people were brought to the trauma care unit at Ha’Emek medical center, while police began an investigation at the scene of the accident. Police so far have not disclosed any details regarding the causes of the accident. “We know that it was a very serious head-on collision, and we have opened an investigation. As of yet we do not have any details regarding the causes of the collision,” said an officer to Yediot Aharonot reporters at the scene.
Earlier in the day a 14 year-old bicycle rider was hit by a car near the town of Nili in Samaria. She was taken to Tel Hashomer hospital with head injuries.
The two accidents came following an even more tragic day on Friday when 9 people were injured in car accidents in Israel. A 20 year-old was critically injured in a car accident at the Segev Shalom intersection outside of Be’er Sheva. The youngster was taken to Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva on a respirator and unconscious. Eight others were lightly injured.
