Thirty young Yeshiva University students are on their way from New York to join their Israeli counterparts on a summer-long science project.
The undergrads are set to participate in a joint program with Bar-Ilan University under the watchful eyes of some of Israel’s top scientists. Now in its second year, the “Summer Science Research Internship” program is coordinated by Dr. Anatoly Frenkel, professor of physics at YU.
The program enables the students to gain hands-on experience in emerging scientific fields while being mentored by BIU faculty members.
Starting next week, 30 male and female undergraduate YU science majors will spend the next seven weeks carrying out their research in the university’s state-of-the-art laboratories.
“The most important component that the YU-BIU program adds to the existing science and research education of our students are the world-famous research base, the high-level mentorship and a strong peer group of Israeli students, young scholars in their own right,” noted Frenkel.
Among the faculty members participating in the program are those from the Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials and the Gonda Brain Research Center.
