‘We’ll suspend terrorist supporters until there are none left’
February 10, 2016MK Nissan Slomiansky (Jewish Home), head of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, vowed on Wednesday to work to remove MKs who support terrorism from the Knesset, one by one.
Slomiansky spoke hours after chaos erupted during a discussion by his committee on a bill that would allow for MKs to be suspended from the Knesset due to misconduct.
Members of the opposition disrupted the discussion and verbally attacked Slomiansky, who had no choice but to have MKs Michal Rozin (Meretz) and Revital Swid (Zionist Union) removed from the room.
Speaking later on Wednesday, Slomiansky blasted the three Arab MKs from Balad who met with terrorists’ families before promising to work to oust them and any other terrorist supporters from the Knesset.
“It’s a disgrace that people who sit in the Israeli Knesset are doing such unthinkable things. These people have gone too far, meeting with families and parents of murderers of Jews. It is inconceivable that three MKs encourage terrorism. It is time to stop this business,” he said.
“I’m glad that the Prime Minister is promoting the suspension law, because the only way to [suspend MKs] is to regulate it by law,” Slomiansky continued. “For whatever reason the government decided that the law would be passed by the Constitution Committee. This means that it is possible to suspend these MKs who encourage terrorism until the end of their term in office, and then the next in line will take their place on the list. We’ll keep going until we remove everyone from their list.”
“What happened at the Committee today is a disgrace, no less. Instead of encouraging and strengthening the law, representatives of the opposition were behaving like they were in a market, shouting and disrupting, as if they lost their minds. That’s how it is in the Knesset, that’s the opposition,” he said.
Despite the behavior of the opposition, Slomiansky vowed that the suspension bill would go through.
“I’m stubborn and this bill will pass, and it will be a sign of stature in the Israeli Knesset. And I say openly that I can draw strength only from religious Zionism, and not from the opposition,” he said.
