Two IDF Officers Killed in Gaza will Be Buried Today

Two IDF officers were killed in Gaza on Tuesday evening, according to a statement released by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit on Wednesday morning.

One of them has been identified as Captain Natan Cohen, 23, of Modiin, a company commander in the Armored Corps. 

The second is Captain Dmitri Levitas, 26, from Jerusalem.

Both officers appear to have been killed by snipers.

Captain Natan Cohen will be buried Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the military cemetery in Modiin.

Captain Dmitri Levitas will be buried at Har Herzl, in Jerusalem, at 3:00 p.m. The IDF Spokesman conveyed the request of the Levitas family, that media refrain from covering the funeral.

29 officers and soldiers have been killed since the beginning of Operation Protective Edge.

In addition, said the IDF statement, a total of 20 IDF soldiers were wounded on Tuesday in Gaza, among them three seriously, nine moderately and eight soldiers were lightly wounded.

A soldier killed in Gaza on Tuesday morning was identified later that evening as Staff Sergeant Evyatar Turgeman, 20, of Beit Shean.

Turgeman, a soldier in the Paratroopers unit, was killed in a shootout with terrorists, and was the 28th soldier killed in Operation Protective Edge.

Earlier Tuesday it was revealed that Sergeant Oron Shaul, 21, is missing and presumed dead.
