Shin Bet arrests terrorist behind 2010 drive-by shooting
May 4, 2016A joint operation between the Israel Security Agency (ISA, also known as the Shin Bet or Shabak) and the IDF’s Duvdevan unit arrested Atef Rouhi Salah Al-Salahi on Wednesday.
Forty-three-year-old Al-Salhi, a resident of Silwad in Binyamin, belongs to Hamas. In September 2010, he shot and wounded two Israeli citizens at Rimonim Junction.
Palestinian Authority police arrested Al-Salahi shortly after the attack, but later released him.
While the Palestinian Authority oversees Judea and Samaria, and is strongly opposed to Hamas, the latter group has been gaining support in the region. When Hamas representatives paid a condolence call to the recent Jerusalem bus bomber’s family, they received warmly welcome and were treated as guests of honor.
