Report: Palestinian Terrorist Committed ISIS Suicide Bombing
September 1, 2015Claims have surfaced of the first reported suicide bombing committed by a Palestinian Arab on behalf of the Islamic State terror organization, Channel 2 reported on Tuesday.
Abdullah Jamal, 25, a resident of the Al-Shati camp in Gaza, was previously a member of Hamas before recently joining ISIS in Iraq – where he carried out the attack.
According to reports, Jamal blew himself up at an army base in Baghdad three days ago. Two Iraqi generals and three others were purportedly killed in the suicide bombing.
ISIS was quick to take responsibility, warning that Iraqi military officials are not immune from terror attacks.
A statement released by supporters of the terror group claimed the two slain officers were a deputy commander of operations in the Anbar province and the head of 10th infantry unit of the Iraqi army.
On Monday, it was reported that the Foreign Ministry and Interpol Israel had succeeded in stopping an Israeli from joining ISIS, after his family informed authorities of the situation.
The man, 21, flew from Crete to Izmir in Turkey, and from there to Adana in his effort to join ISIS in Syria. He then continued by road to Iskenderun, a city near the Syrian border, where he was stopped by Turkish police and handed over to his relatives.
