Public Approves of Bennett’s Performance as Education Minister

August 28, 2015

The Israeli public approves of Education Minister Naftali Bennett’s work more than it does Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon’s, a new poll released Thursday found.

The poll, conducted by Panel Politics for the Knesset Channel, found that only 27% of the Israeli public is satisfied with Kahlon’s performance, compared to 53% who is dissatisfied with him.

Bennett, however, enjoys more than 48% support among the public who graded his performance as “good”, compared to 11% who said his performance was “poor” and 27% who said his performance was “mediocre”.

38% of respondents believe that Bennett is doing a better job than his predecessor, Shai Piron. Only 22% claimed that Bennett is “less good” than Piron.

45% of the respondents said that Bennett is the “Minister of Education of all the children of Israel”, 15% said he was “mostly the Minister of Education of the Jewish community”, 14% said that Bennett is “mostly the Minister of Education of the religious community”, and 8% said the Jewish Home chairman is “mostly the Minister of Education of the right”.

As Education Minister, Bennett has so far introduced a number of initiatives, including a program to teach Arab students Hebrew as a required subject starting in kindergarten. He also signed an agreement with German officials to have the German language taught in Israeli high schools.
