One Wounded After Terrorists Open Fire at Soldiers in Jenin

August 31, 2015

IDF troops, accompanied by fighters from the Yamam counterterrorist unit and personnel from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) were attacked on Monday night as they were arresting wanted terrorists in Jenin.

Palestinian Arab sources said that several wanted terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire. The terrorist that the forces were planning to arrest reportedly barricaded himself in his home and a battle of gunfire between him and the troops ensued.

One Yamam fighter was moderately wounded in the incident and was evacuated by helicopter to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

The incident took place near the home of senior Islamic Jihad terrorist Bassam Saadi, who was released from an Israeli prison in 2011 and near the home of the Abu al-Hija family, which is affiliated with Hamas’s “military wing” in Judea and Samaria.

Two members of the family, Majdi Abu Al-Hija and his brother, were reportedly arrested after their home was surrounded.
