Netanyahu Meets with Italian Jewish Community Leaders

August 28, 2015

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met in Florence with the heads of the Jewish communities of Italy on Friday, who represent 21 communities totaling approximately 24,000 people.

“I am pleased to be with you here, as part of my visit to the World Expo and ahead of my meeting tomorrow with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi,” Netanyahu began.

“The world believes in Israeli technology, as science and technology are stronger than any boycotts,” he continued. “We want to bring Israeli technology to the world, but we are caught in a struggle between the forces of progress and modernity and the dark forces who seek to bring us backward.”

“It is a struggle between freedom and servitude, between day and night,” he added. “We are not only fighting for our common way of life, but also the truth; we are fighting the lies being spread about us.”

“Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi is a key partner in this fight and I am looking forward to our meeting tomorrow.”
