Names of Six IDF Soldiers Killed in APC Sunday Released

The IDF has just released the names of six soldiers killed in an armored personnel carrier (APC) in Shejaiya, Gaza, on Sunday, out of a total of seven who were in the APC. Thirteen soldiers were killed in the fighting that day, but the process of identification of the APC soldiers took a long time.

The fallen soldiers are:

Sergeant Max Steinberg, 24, who served in Golani as a sniper, according to the Jewish Journal. Steinberg, listed as a Be’er Sheva resident, made Aliyah from Los Angeles and served as a lone soldier. Steinberg was posthumously awarded the rank of Sergeant; funeral arrangements are pending. 

Sergeant First Class Shachar Tase, Golani, 21, from Pardesiah, was also posthumously awarded First Class ranking. Tase’s funeral will be held at 6:00 pm Tuesday in the military cemetery in Pardesiah. 

Sergeant First Class Daniel Pomeranz, Golani, 20, from Kfar Azar. Pomerantz was posthumously given First Class ranking; his funeral arrangements are still pending. 

Sergeant Shon Mondshine, Golani, 19, from Tel Aviv, was awarded Sergeant posthumously. Mondshine’s funeral arrangements are still pending. 

Sergeant Ben Itzhak Oanounou, 19, from Ashdod; also awarded rank of Sergeant posthumously. Oanounou’s funeral will be held Tuesday, 5:00 pm, at Ashdod’s military cemetery. 

Sergeant First Class Oren Simcha Noach, 22, from Hoshaya. Noach’s funeral will begin at the Hoshaya community synagogue at 3:00 pm, for family only; the funeral will progress to the Hoshaya cemetery at 4:00 pm. The media has been asked to respect the family’s privacy. 

Twenty-seven IDF soldiers have been killed as of Tuesday, as Operation Protective Edge enters its fifteenth day.
