Minister Ariel: Continue the Operation in Gaza

August 21, 2014

The Hamas terrorists who were eliminated by Israel “lived a month too long”, Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) said on Thursday.

Ariel, who visited with residents of the communities in the Gaza Belt who are under continuous rocket fire, called for the continuation of the operation in Gaza and perhaps even for the renewal of the ground operation.

“There is no ‘renewed fire’, there is non-stop continuous fire. Saying that the ‘fire has been renewed’ is false, we are fired upon non-stop,” he said.

“There is a war. And like in war – he who comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first. And there is also the famous saying that ‘the best defense is offense’ – this too is relevant these days,” Ariel said.

“So it’s necessary to eliminate the rocket threat through a wide ground attack. This doesn’t mean taking over Gaza, it means to initiate, attack and let the IDF win,” he stressed.

“In my opinion, they (the eliminated terrorists) lived a month too long, or even a few years too long,” Ariel said, speaking hours after three senior Hamas commanders were killed in a pre-dawn Israeli airstrike in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

“This shows our capabilities and our determination – we have to continue this way with all strength,” he added.
