Media Adviser for Kulanu Implicated in Corruption Scandal

January 26, 2015

Ronen Moshe, the media adviser to Kulanu party chairman Moshe Kahlon, and the owner of the public relations firm Together, is suspected of bribery and fraud in aggravated circumstances, as part of the corruption case surrounding Yisrael Beytenu, Walla! News reports Monday.

Moshe, who has been arrested for his alleged role in the case, will be kept under police custody until Thursday, the Rishon Lezion Magistrates Court ruled Monday afternoon.

Moshe is accused of accepting funds allocated to a joint project of several organizations on condition that the PR firm help the project – a fact the organizations intentionally kept under wraps.

Police also suspect that Moshe was in contact with the primary suspects in the case, including former Deputy Minister Faina Kirschenbaum.

“My client is a normative man with no criminal record,” Moshe’s lawyer, Yaron London, stated after the ruling. “He knows political people, gives advice and receives advice, so he was linked somehow to this matter.”

“He did not deny his acquaintance with the same people, and there is nothing wrong [with that],” he added, saying Moshe simply “wanted to answer the questions asked [of him].”

Over 30 senior figures are suspected of involvement in the corruption scandal, including several Yisrael Beytenu party members. The suspects apparently illegally allocated budgets to NGOs and different sources, transferred funds to regional council organizations, and laundered money through “straw company” fronts.
