Jerusalem Protests Demand PM Stop ‘Abandoning Jewish Blood’
October 3, 2015Spontaneous protests broke out in Jerusalem on Saturday night after two Israelis were murdered and two others wounded in a stabbing attack claimed by Islamic Jihad.
Hundreds took to the streets by the light rail near Zion Square, close to the municipality building, and marched towards the Old City’s Yafo Gate.

Leading nationalist activists such as attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir and Lehava director Bentzi Gopshtain took part, as the crowds chanted, “am Yisrael chai” (the nation of Israel lives), and shouted “Jewish blood is not abandoned,” and “the people demand revenge.”
At Yafo Gate the protesters tried to shut down the road and block traffic, at which point officers took action to disperse them. Clashes broke out in nearby Mamila Mall between the protesters and Arabs, with protesters reportedly spraying tear gas at an Arab man; four protesters were arrested according to police.
Meanwhile outside the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem, Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan spoke to Arutz Sheva about his ongoing protest taking place since the funeral of Rabbi Eitam and Naama Henkin last Friday, in a demand for security to be returned to the region.
“I came here right after the funeral with a plastic chair, I intend to sit here – until the prime minister gets a hold of himself I’ll be here,” said Dagan. The Henkins were murdered in front of their four children outside Itamar in Samaria by Fatah terrorists.
Turning his attention to the stabbing on Saturday night, he said, “the attack that took place just a few minutes ago just a kilometer-and-a-half from here only brings greater urgency to the matter.
“I call on all Jerusalemites: don’t sit at home, come here, join us in this protest tent, people arrived over the Shabbat to strengthen the protest, now they’re arriving from all around the country.
“The terror that is going wild in Samaria is the same terror going wild in Jerusalem, and the weakness of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Samaria is the same weakness of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. We demand that the prime minister stop it.
“If the prime minister were to decide he’s dropping everything to deal with this terror, the terror will be stopped. If the prime minister decides to fight this terror, the terror will be wiped out. If the prime minister decides he’s pulling out the roots of the terror, and allows building in Jerusalem, allows building in Samaria, stops this barbaric construction freeze – which makes our blood permissible because the Arabs see it and take it to mean the government isn’t with Samaria and isn’t with Jerusalem – this terror will be wiped out.
“I came here and for my part I’ll sit here for two years, I’m not going back to Samaria until I have answers to give my residents. I represent the state of Israel to them as a regional head and I’m left helpless.
“The state of Israel needs to get a hold of itself, it can’t be that two days ago I come as a regional head and see residents lying dead on the road, and now Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat needs to go see people critically wounded in the center of his city,” continued Dagan, speaking before two of the victims died of their wounds.
“I call on all residents of Jerusalem to come here, and we won’t move from here until the prime minister calls to us and explains how he’s changing the complete abandonment that has taken hold in the country.”
