Hazan Lashes Out at Hotovely in Twitter Feud

May 28, 2015

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely and Likud MK Oren Hazan clashed on Twitter late Wednesday evening following a heated Likud faction debate over changing its primaries system.

Numerous party members, likely dissatisfied over the positions they did and did not receive, have tried to overhaul primaries, complaining that Likud’s current system gives the Prime Minister too much influence in choosing party candidates

Instead, they advocate a return to the previous system, whereby Likud Central Committee members choose the Knesset list.

And it was in relation to the Likud Central Committee that Hazan berated Hotovely, claiming she had called its members “gangsters and corrupt” during the Likud faction discussion.

“Yet another one trying to build a career with the knights of the extreme left at the expense of Likud Central Committee members,” the freshman MK slammed Hotovely.

An angered Hotovely responded, sarcastically tweeting, “I am sorry for your listening comprehension problems. I talked about media image which was connected to members of the Central Committee.”

Not willing to give up the last word, Hazan replied: “I don’t remember an MK or media person who ever described the previous Central Committee members as ‘gangsters.’ Tzipi, sometimes the mouth emits when the mind thinks. I definitely don’t have hearing problems.”

Defending herself later, Hotovely asserted that Hazan had a bone to pick with her, having already attacked her during the meeting before turning to the social media site.

“I did not say the Central Committee members were gangsters, rather that the media has tagged such an image on them, and that it must be fought,” Hotovely stressed.
