Hadar Goldin’s parents meet UN Assistant Secretary-General

February 7, 2016

Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon accompanied Leah and Simha Goldin, the parents of Hadar Goldin who was killed during Operation Protective Edge, in a meeting with Edmond Mulet, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the UN.

The purpose of the meeting at the UN headquarters in New York, which was held last week, was to put pressure on the UN to act to return the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul from Hamas captivity for proper burial in Israel.

“Hadar Goldin was killed in a ceasefire mediated by the international community and the UN must take responsibility, and act against Hamas to return the body of Hadar and Oron to Israel for burial as soon as possible,” said ambassador Danon.

Leah and Simcha Goldin said that “In our meeting with the UN Secretary General’s battlefield commander, we won the humanitarian recognition of the return of Hadar and Oron of Israel, and the UN is to officially publish an announcement on the subject.”

“Additionally, we discussed the killing and abduction of Hadar during the ceasefire which was arranged by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and US Secretary of State John Kerry.”
