German Airline Lufthansa Maintains Israel Flight Ban

July 24, 2014

Germany’s biggest airline Lufthansa said Thursday it would continue to suspend flights to Tel Aviv for another 24 hours over security concerns amid the raging conflict with Gazan terrorists.

“We will resume flights as soon as the protection of the airport is assured in a tangible manner,” it said in a statement.

Earlier on Thursday, US airlines lifted their bans on flights to Ben Gurion International Airport, which were imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday after a rocket struck a house in the city of Yehud, not far from the airport.

The European air safety agency also lifted its warning on flights to the Jewish state, as did Russia’s second-largest air carrier Transaero.
