Firebomb Attack on Historic Jerusalem Home Wounds One
August 31, 2014Arab terrorists on Saturday night threw a molotov cocktail at “Beit Meyuhas,” an historical Jewish home from the 19th century CE in the City of David area just south of Jerusalem’s Old City.
In the firebomb attack one 45-year-old Jewish man was wounded lightly, suffering first and second-degree burns to his head.
Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics gave the wounded man medical treatment before transferring him to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
The City of David area is believed to have been the original site of ancient Jerusalem which pre-dates the current “Old City” by centuries, with recent excavations at the City of David National Park showing what is thought to be a palace of the Davidic dynasty.
It is also located next to the Shiloach (Silwan in Arabic) neighborhood, an area from which anti-Jewish attacks have emanated occasionally in the past.
Just two weeks ago two molotov cocktails were thrown at a Jewish home in Shiloach, setting the roof on fire. Firefighting crews arrived quickly to fight the blaze, as police forces searched for the perpetrators.
There has been a recent spate of attacks not just in the Shiloach area; on Saturday three police officers were wounded by rocks thrown at them while arresting an Arab resident of the A-Tur neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem. Another man was arrested along with the resident during the clash.
The recent rise in attacks comes as “moderate” Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction, through it’s “military wing” Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades, recently declared it would be increasing terror attacks against Israel, and likewise announced “open war” on Israel.
