Bennett thanks wounded soldiers for ‘dedication’ and ‘strength’

November 25, 2015

Education Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home) visited numerous educational institutions in Tel Aviv on Wednesday as part of the Annual Day of Appreciation for those Wounded in Israel’s Wars and in Terrorist Attacks.

The Jewish Home chairman also stopped by the Fighter’s House, home to a sports rehabilitation center for disabled IDF veterans.

Bennett met with IDF soldiers wounded in two Gaza wars – 2014’s Operation Protective Edge and 2008-2009’s Operation Cast Lead – later playing a game of ping-pong with the injured men.

In addition, the minister participated in a tribute ceremony to wounded IDF soldiers at the Ort Singalovski High School, awarding a plaque to Captain Ran Ben-Attia, who was wounded by a sniper on the third day of ground operations during Protective Edge.

Later, Bennett toured the Yisgav school along with Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, where he watched educational activities prepared in honor of the Day of Appreciation.

Bennett noted that “as a previous fighter, and current education minister, I see great importance in instilling the children of Israel with the honor of combat and respect for the wounded.”

“The Day of Appreciation for wounded soldiers is our opportunity to recognize that you carry the wars of all of us on your backs daily,” Bennett declared. “On behalf of all the citizens of Israel, I want to thank you for your sacrifice, dedication and strength.”

“Your combat service which continues into your daily struggles is an inspiration to us all – blessed is the nation whose sons you are part of.”
