Bedouin student tried to smuggle in Tunisian terrorist
February 8, 2016An indictment is to be submitted on Monday, concluding the joint investigation into an Arab citizen of Israel in his 20s from the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva (Tel as-Sabi) located just east of Be’er Sheva.
The Bedouin student is charged with having tried to smuggle a Tunisian terrorist into Israel.
According to the suspicions, during a period in which he served as a replacement teacher at a school in Tel Sheva, the student made contact with jihadist activists in various Arab states, and agreed to help a foreign terrorist infiltrate into Israel.
The student also joined a Salafist jihadist group.
Around three weeks ago the student was arrested while on his way back from Jordan, and was transferred for interrogation.
Under investigation it became clear that even before he left for Jordan, he made contact with the jihadist activists in various Arab countries, and agreed to help a jihadist terrorist from Tunisia infiltrate Israel, where they were to conduct an attack together. It likewise was learned that he had agreed to join a Salafist organization.
The student connected himself with the crimes attributed to him under investigation, and following the establishment of a groundwork of evidence against him, an indictment is to be submitted by the southern district attorney asking to extend his arrest until the end of proceedings.
