2,026 Homes in Danger of Demolition in Judea and Samaria

Nationalist organizations are sounding the alarm with a booklet containing aerial photographs of around 20 Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, which presents 2,026 homes in danger of demolition.

The booklet shows the 2,026 homes which are on land allegedly privately owned by Arabs, with the buildings to be destroyed if the political echelon does not act to block petitions that will be submitted against them in the coming years.

Of the 2,026, 1,232 of the structures are established homes, and another are mobile homes, altogether representing the homes of around 1,500 families. Most of those families don’t know that their homes are on land said to be private.

Arutz Sheva has learned that the booklet, which was prepared by the NGO Regavim, has been presented to Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud), as well as other ministers and MKs.

It has been learned that radical leftist groups possess the aerial photographs as well, and intend to use them in legal battles to destroy the homes.

The scope of the potential destruction is great as revealed by the photographs, with a large portion of the homes having been built many years ago under the full agreement of the state and representing great investments to increase the Jewish presence in order to, among other things, increase regional security.

The communities mentioned include: Ofra 530 homes, Beit El 289 homes, Eli 166 homes, Michmash 113 homes, Elon Moreh 128 homes, Psagot 98 homes, Kokhav Ya’akov 83 homes, Kedumim 71 homes, Kokhav HaShahar 65 homes, Neve Tzuf 52 homes, Otniel 47 homes, Shevi Shomron 45 homes, Mitzpe Yericho 45 homes, Yitzhar 43 homes, Maon 34 homes, Tapuach 27 homes, Adam 25 homes, Beit Hagai 25 homes, Susya 23 homes, Neve Daniel 19 homes, Tekoa 17 homes, Har Bracha 15 homes, Nokdim 14 homes, Pnei Hever 13 homes, Ma’ale Amos 5 homes, Kedar 7 homes.

Built by the state

A governmental decision has established that all Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria on private land will be removed.

In some of the homes more than one family dwells, as seen for example in Beit El where 137 buildings house around 300 families.

A senior source in the movement strengthening the Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria told Arutz Sheva that that IDF Civil Administration checks state land anew each year, distinguishing between state and private land.

“A large portion of those 2,026 homes were built by the state, and a portion received mortgages from the authority of the Jewish Agency,” revealed the source.

The source added that since 2005 there has been no construction in Judea and Samaria without the permission of the Civil Administration.

“The radical leftist movements won’t petition the Supreme Court on all (the homes) at once because the Supreme Court will throw them out of the court gates. Radical leftist organizations work based on the salami method and are advancing well,” he added, indicating a gradual process of weakening the Jewish presence bit by bit.

The source added, “unfortunately in the settlements there’s a feeling of ease that (the demolitions) are all behind us, but the mapping shows that it’s just beginning. If there won’t be a legal or legislative solution, we will see ‘retreats’ all the time, and demolitions of homes in the settlements.”

Currently it appears that sources in the government do not have a wide-reaching solution to the issue, although efforts to limit the Supreme Court’s ability to overturn state decisions, including those relating to Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria, seek to address the issue.
